LINTEL REPLACEMENT

A lintel is a structural bar support usually installed above windows, doors, and openings to carry the load of brickwork above.

Over time, steel lintels may corrode or weaken, causing cracking, movement, or structural instability within masonry walls. As rust forms, this causes the lintel to expand sometimes up to 7 times the original volume. This is what causes the cracks in the brickwork above and below the lintel and pushes the head of the opening upward.

At Clover Construction, we specialise in safely replacing deteriorated lintels and structural supports affected by corrosion, movement, or moisture damage while maintaining the integrity of surrounding masonry.

OUR STEP-BY-STEP APPROACH

01 INSPECTION

We assess the existing lintel and surrounding brickwork to determine the extent of damage and structural requirements.

02 SUPPORTING THE STRUCTURE

Temporary supports are installed to safely hold the masonry above before any removal works begin.

03 REMOVAL OF DAMAGED LINTEL

The affected bricks and failed lintel are carefully removed without causing unnecessary disruption to surrounding areas.

04 INSTALLATION OF NEW LINTEL

A new, correctly specified lintel is installed and positioned to provide proper structural support.

05 BRICK REINSTALLATION

The removed bricks are reinstated and aligned to match the existing masonry as closely as possible.

06 REPOINTING AND FINISHING

All joints are repointed and finished to restore strength, durability, and appearance. Final inspection is conducted.
